Charity Quiz

Do you know what an Orchidectomy is, what game starts with a squidge-off or what the 6 murder weapons are in the game of Cluedo?

Well you would have if you had been at the quiz night recently organised by Grange Wintringham at the Stamford Club in Cleethorpes. 18 teams took part and friendly jibes and asides were used to create a bit of healthy competition. With two trophies up for grabs, the winners were Forrester Boyd (Chips for Chaps) and the runners up Martin Maslin Estate Agents (Hudson’s Heroes). The team who came last (The Luvvies - a well know local estate agent) also received a wooden spoon and rubber chicken as a consolation prize.

Lawrence Brown of Scotts Chartered Surveyors kept everyone entertained as the quiz master, extracting additional money from the various teams represented by estate agents, banks and accountancy companies to name but a few. Even two fish and chip suppers left over due to 2 no shows were auctioned off and raised another £10.

Altogether, along with 3 name cards, which also sold in double quick time, the event raised over £900 and the Partners at Grange Wintringham made the figure up to a fantastic £1000.

Jane Whenham-White, Fundraising & Marketing Manager at St Andrew’s said: “Grange Wintringham has for many years been fantastic supporters of the Hospice. They are Corporate members of our Lottery, buy our Christmas Cards, Staff donate to our charity shops and they are generally just up for anything they can do to help us. We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who participated in making the night such a great success. Everyone was extremely generous and very eager to give whatever they could afford to support the Hospice. There was a really nice atmosphere, and it was our pleasure to be a part of the event even if the “Hospice Hotshots” didn’t live up to our name we only come 16th out of 18!!!”

At the request of many of the teams who took part, we will be repeating the quiz next year. If you would like to be added to the mailing list, please email katie.burgess@grangewintringham.com
